Moetaku-Fansubs

True "fan" subs

About

moetaku is a fansubbing group.

THE NAME
…wasn’t actually meant for a fansubbing group. If it’s not obvious the name is a combination of Moe (萌え) and Otaku (おたく). Should be self explanitory, if you don’t know those words go google ‘em.

THE HISTORY
AniDB lists our first release occurring on the 12th of December 2007, however in reality the group started to form a couple months prior. Those original members consisted of matdavhans, shohei91, sho(mazta), and Advent7. After translating a promotional for the True Tears series shohei91 had to put fansubs aside and focus on exams, he wasn’t involved with the series at all and when MoeOtaku went offline for a short period of time shohei91 disappeared. Matdavhans dissapeared shortly as well after having only timed the promo.

Nin7827 joined our staff prior to releasing the promotional in order to help with translation checking on REFLECTIA.

Around the time True Tears’ first episode aired our staff had amassed to a fairly decent size. Power2All, Dragon5152, and meltingice all were recruited as Encoders. Light- joined our staff as a timer, E

tl;dw (if you gives a damn, anidb history)

…jist is we’ve had quite alot of staff come and go through the past couple years, due to various reasons (including our oh so awesome leader being away a year training) a number of projects got stalled—ultimately dropped. The group isn’t necessarily alive at the moment, yet when some good shows air we’ll be bound to make a comeback, and we’re not messing with gay shows like Kanokon or To Love-Ru anymore =_=

THE IDEA
In the past we did shows to compete with other groups and or try to be “better” cause oh we were big bad quality subbers who had the capacity to release way faster then any other quality group. That is all in the past.
As of the present:
We fansub. We are fans. We sub only the shows that we are fans of. We are fansubbers. Generally we research a show well in advance to get a complete comprehension of the materials as well as to determine whether or not the show is worth our time; most of us are busy with jobs now. We also don’t see any point in subbing series that already have good, I repeat GOOD, translations. We’re not gonna hop on to any bandwagon of oversubbage, however that doesn’t mean we won’t ever be involved in oversubs. If there is any fault in another groups releases we may decide that it’s best we step in and turn things up a notch. For ongoing series we use only TS source. We take our time translating and delving into terminology. We don’t go overboard with karaoke effects, and definitely don’t go overboard with filters. Our timings are sharp.

edit weee… prob gonna delete a good portion of this insanely wordy wordy wordy wordy thingy
